Average Labour Cost/Price to Paint/Emulsion Interior Walls/Rooms
To clarify the following prices it is recommended that you read the article in the INFORMATION box below the PRICES…
(These prices are based on a tradesman’s rate of £150.00 per day and a labourer if required at £100.00 per day. This includes the cost of buying and collecting any materials, dumping any waste if necessary and any incidental materials they will need. The minimum price will usually be for a half day)
How Much Does it Cost To Paint Walls?

Lets assume a “normal size” empty room with a door, window and chimney breast. The 4 walls are currently painted and just need a bit of filler here and there and a quick sand down.
To prepare the walls, then apply 2 coats of emulsion, cutting in at the skirtings, architrave and window will take one man a day…….£160.00
Lets assume the room is empty but the walls are currently papered. To strip it all off then do the above will be 2 days…...£325.00
Lets assume the room is currently painted but full of furniture etc. and carpeted. (You should move/return all the small stuff). He will move the furniture to the middle, cover the carpet as he goes, do “Job 1”, then put it all back. This will take him 1.5 days ……..£235.00
If there’s furniture and wallpaper to strip, then he will have to remove all the furniture and take the carpet up, do the job and then put it all back again. He will need a mate for this and the whole job will take them 3 days……£775.00

These prices are based on our tradesman’s rate of £150 per day and a labourer (if necessary) at £100 per day, plus any materials they will need. You are paying separately for the paint.
(The minimum price will usually be for a half days labour).
