Cost to Fit Kitchen Cupboard Doors

Job
Description
Labour
1If you want 10 pre-drilled doors and handles fitting, he is likely to charge a day for this.
£190
2If you want new kick boards as well (supplied by you) this would be another half day, so add….
£110
3If you just want 10 handles fitting and they are “on site” that’s half a day
£90
4Doors begin at about £20 each and handles at about £4 but you can pay a great deal more than that!  The above prices assume everything is ready “on site” for the fitter.

“Labour” at £175 a day (tradesman) £100 (labourer), includes incidental fixings etc. and tipping. “Materials” if mentioned, are larger things (a boiler) and stuff only you can choose (tiles etc).  Also VAT must be added all round.

Information Sheet on Replacing Kitchen Cupboard Doors

Doors only

Good idea, get a new kitchen for half the price of, well…… a new kitchen! Have a good look around on the internet, the local DIY stores, timber yards and the dentist’s (all those Country Life magazines)! There are a lot of new designs around. Or, if you fancy being a bit clever you could get a joiner in who will certainly make new doors to your own design, he might struggle with
worktops though.

All kitchen cupboards, both floor standing and wall hung are made to the same sizes. There are lots of
different sizes of course but it doesn’t matter if they were made in Lithuania or Luton, they are all interchangeable, so you can go to “WickesbaseandQ”, buy a load of new doors and they will fit your existing old “carcases”.

One last thing, think about the old kick boards. Are you really going to leave the old ones in, with all that new swish stuff being fitted above them?

Handles only

As soon as the old ones are taken off you will have holes…….. dozens of them! So when you’re choosing new handles, they have to be fitted into these same holes. Hadn’t thought about that had you?

Don’t imagine that the new handles will fit the old holes. They may do of course but what if you’ve ordered them over the internet? Can you send them back?

Anyway, assuming you can get ones that fit, a chap will charge half a day to just turn up, remove the old ones and fit the new. You will have to organise all the ordering though!
