“Labour” at £175 a day (tradesman) £100 (labourer), includes incidental fixings etc. and tipping. “Materials” if mentioned, are larger things (a boiler) and stuff only you can choose (tiles etc). Also VAT must be added all round.

Information Sheet on Radiator Covers

You can get the ones in huge cardboard boxes from your local DIY store, but they just approximate the size of your radiator. You might get lucky – the radiator cover may fit like one that has been made-to-measure, but this is unlikely. Usually the problem is with the valves. Either the cover sits over them (not ideal) or you have to do a bit of cutting to get it to fit neatly.

One plus point is that these are made of primed MDF, so the painting of the daft little grill bit won’t take a lifetime – it will just feel that way.

Bespoke Radiator Covers

Getting a man in to make one?

Here, the plus point is that you get what you pay for – a cover that will look good, sit neatly over the radiator valves and can be made exactly to your requirements, mouldings, lattice work etc. This option is more expensive, but as I’ve said a hundred times, you get what you pay for!

He won’t want to paint it though!
