Information on Boiler Servicing

Every trade has it’s “nice little earner”, mine was replacing a slate on the way home. Sometimes it took me longer to park than it did to fix the roof and now I think about it, I charged about the same as a boiler service.
Servicing your boiler is the heating engineer’s equivalent job. He usually schedules it in winter so he’ll be in the warm and get a nice cup of tea and a biscuit. Amongst other things he should at least expose the burner and clean out the firebox and ideally he will find something that’s about to “go”, such as that annoying valve on Worcester combis….. and make a show of freeing it up.
Then he’ll get his invoice sheet out and give you a bill which would put him in the supertax bracket if he was paid that amount for every hour he worked!
Appy days!
