2	To repoint all round most ridge chimneys will take 1 man 2 days.	£350
	Plus materials, scaffolding etc for the above	£1000
3	To repoint a “kitchen” chimneys will take 1 man 1 day.	£175
	Plus materials, scaffolding etc for the above	£750
4	To remove and return an aerial, done by an aerial fitter (from the scaffolding).	£85
5	To return when the scaffolding has gone and replace broken tiles/slates.	£50-£200

“Labour” at £175 a day (tradesman) £100 (labourer), includes incidental fixings etc. and tipping charges. “Materials” if mentioned, are larger things (a boiler) and stuff only you can choose (tiles etc). Also VAT must be added all round.

Apart from a few Victorian “Villa” kitchen ones, (which are half way up the pitch), chimney stacks are found either at the bottom of the roof (at the eaves), or the top (at the ridge) or half way up the gable end! (I could sell that one to Julian Clary). The actual work is the same for all 4 chimney positions but the scaffolding price will differ.

We are also assuming the following…
There are no conservatories, or other impediments to scaffolding erection. That all chimneys are average size (whatever that is) with no aerials. That the pointing is done correctly. That “party chimneys” are all being done and that no tiles/slates are broken during the process. Nonsense…scaffolders can break tiles just by getting out of their wagon!

If the tiles are incorrectly bedded, the tile being drilled could crack. This obviously will need replacing. Do you have a spare? It may not be easy to get a replacement that matches.
